FATHI (Federation of Telangana Higher Educational Institutions) has decided to intensify the ongoing indefinite strike which entered third day November 5, Wednesday. The core of the federation which comprises around 18,00 private engineering, pharmacy, education, nursing and degree PG colleges in the State announced on Wednesday that they would organize a “Telanana Teachers’ Reconciliation Meet” in Hyderabad on November 8, Second Saturday.
Addressing media persons on Wednesday, FATHI chairman Dr Ramesh Babu deplored the stand of the State government towards the private colleges which were only asking for release of pending dues to them under the RTF (Reimbursement of Tuition Fees) of the students. These dues were piled for the last four years. Bills of the dues for which tokens were issued by the concerned departments too were not released, thus putting the colleges to immense financial difficulties.
Dr Ramesh said that the colleges were boycotting all examinations for the last three days and would continued to do so till their demands were met. He urged JNTU to postpone the regular and supplementary examinations for B Pharmacy students this week. All the teaching and non-teaching staff would participate in the November 8 rally. If the government was adamant on not releasing any funds by then, the FATHI would organised a massive rally of students in the city on November 10, Monday.
Trust idea welcomed
Dr Ramesh said that the government setting up of a committee to examine the proposal to form a trust for payment of dues under the RTF. But, he said that the committee should be asked to submit its report within a month, instead of three months mentioned in the government order (GO). Moreover, only those connected to the subject, like banking and finance experts should be in the committee, but not those with bureaucratic or unrelated backgrounds.
