Women are going to enter politics in a big way very soon. No sphere of public will be left untouched this social explosion or revolution. This is the thrust of a half day seminar organized by your Excel India news magazine from Hyderabad at Ravindra Bharati main auditorium from 10.30 am to 1 pm on November 25, Tuesday.
The seminar was organized in tune with Excel India’s tradition of hosting knowledge and leadership meets on topics of the day. Presently, the entire India awaits the implementation of Women Reservations Act which is also read as the 106th Constitutional Amendment Act 2023. The law is passed by the parliament and got the presidential assent too.
However .this is one aspect of the EI seminar. A galaxy of speakers drawn from different backgrounds focused on various issues that deserve urgent attention of our society, governments and political establishment to empower women. Interesting insights were shared by the speakers including some of their personal experiences.
Parthasarathi IAS (Retd) sets the tone
Former Telangana State Election Commission C Parthasarathi, IAS (Retd) who delivered keynote speech dwelt at length on the issue of injustice to women in public life or politics, from the olden days. He underlined various issues that women and men right from ages, but was confident that women if given the right opportunities would surpass the expectations.
Parthasarathi held several administrative posts in the combined AP and Telangana including those of Vice-Chancellor of many universities and principal secretary agriculture and district collector. He was happy that today’s women are talented, focused and hard working to achieve their goals. He also explained the hurdles for implementation of the women reservations Act
Another keynote address speaker Dr Akkapeddi Vani, Principal of Keshav Memorial College of Law, Narayanguda, Hyderabad too hoped that very soon the women reservations law would be implemented in the country as per the schedule. Dr Vani laid thrust on women developing skills and talents to emerge as leadership without depending on anyone.
Celebratory atmosphere
The seminar was attended by young women mostly students from different colleges in the city. November chilly weather was beaten by their enthusiasm. Many eminent writers and professionals too joined the gathering. Excel India Chief Editor Rama Krishna Sangem in the beginning explained the purpose of the seminar.
Excel India intended to conduct a few more such seminars on the topic of women leadership and thus bring out a special issue covering them all as a souvenir by March 2026. Excel India editorial board member and senior journalist Bhaskar Tatikonda coordinate the entire proceedings. Sridevi Gade was the president of the seminar. Interestingly, participants in the hall often responded enthusiastically by clapping for good speeches.
Sridevi Gade: Women reservations, a game changer
Dr Sridevi Gade, senior High Court advocate and social activist spoke how girls and women face societal hurdles right from their childhood. She founded an organization ABO (Abhigna Bharat Organisation) to promote the cause of women empowerment. Sridevi hoped that the coming women reservations law would be a game changer in our society.
Dr Ajitha Surabhi, educationist and principal of Sri Venkateswara College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad recounted her experiences as a student in the US years ago. She emphasized the need for girls and women to be economically self-reliant so that they would become better leaders in life.
Sudhakar Gade touched global scenario
Noted Tech Entrepreneur and Investment Banker and also a senior BJP leader Sudhakar Gade gave wider perspective of the women representation in public life, including politics, technology and banking and financial sectors. He appreciated PM Modi’s firmness to encourage women leadership in the country that will boost greatly our GDP too.
Sudhakar Gande who is runs Axiscades technology Entrepreneurship Company explained how he encouraged women entrepreneurs with talent and efficiency. Sudhakar asked women to chose their choice of field to excel but put in their best of efforts to be leaders there.
Inampudi Sree Lakshmi, calls for women awareness
Renowned writer and poet Inampudi Sree Lakshmi was another stellar speaker who called for greater awareness on the part of girls and women. She urged women to know things around them and adapt to the changing realities. Only then, they will be able to grasp and emerge as the leaders in real life.
Sree Lakshmi penned more than three dozens of books in Telugu and leads a vast network of Asharayaan, consisting of around 1,000 women writers from Telangana and AP.
Shobha Rani, grassroots fiery speaker
Shobha Rani, a national level community resources person from Gudur, Warangal was the last to speak. But, her speech enthralled all. Shobha spoke in front a global audience at last year’s G20 summit’s meeting in Chennai.
Coming from rural background and a self-made woman she is, Shobha recounted her experiences and said how difficult it would be for women to come out of their home and become leaders.
Dr Jenny, an agriculture scientist from Telangana Agricultural University’s Horticulture College lauded the idea of this seminar and hoped that coming days would be brighter for promising for women in the country. There were a large number of students from her horticultural sciences college as participants in the seminar.
Excel India Associate Editor Aruna Ravikumar wrapped the seminar by reminding women, particularly girls that opportunities will never come without making efforts. Leadership begins only when we spot right opportunities and deliver results. Aruna thanked three sponsors of the seminar – Viswa TV, ABO and Sudhakar Gande Foundation and Kranthi PG & Degree Colleges, Hyderabad.
