Rama Krishna Sangem
Nitin Nabin, now BJP working president, would take over as the party national president by April this year, when he would be officially elected in a national council meeting to be held either in Delhi or Patna. He would be handed over the responsibilities as the new national president from the incumbent and union minister JP Nadda. PM Modi, HM Amit Shah and all other senior leaders would be present on the occasion. Nabin would the youngest BJP president to date.
If Nabin’s installation takes place in April this year, he would be at the helm of the party at a time when it faces crucial elections to t he assemblies of Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puduchery. Excel in Assam, BJP is out of power in all the four states and aspires to emerge as a major force there. BJP has been trying hard to come to power in Bengal, retain it in Assam and win a respectable number of seats in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Puduchery is a union territory with of minor significance to the party.
Organisational man to the core
Nitin Nabin, born 1980,has begun as an ordinary Sangh worker but quickly rose in ranks to occupy the post of the national working president of the ruling BJP since December 2025. He is poised to become the youngest president of the party at the age of 45, once formally elected. He is an organisational man to the core as his late father too is a Sangh parivar member.
Nabin’s official election as the BJP national president is expected to be held in April, 2026. Present president JP Nadda will formally hand over the baton to Nabin at a national council meeting of BJP. Nabin’s formal take over as BJP national president happens during the crucial time of elections to the assemblies of Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam and of course, Puduchery.
Nabin served as a minister in the Nitish Kumar–led Government of Bihar, holding the Minister of Road Construction portfolio from 2024 to 2025. He currently represents the Bankipur constituency in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Nabin may not be a great speaker especially outside the Hindi belt areas. But, BJP is not so bothered on this issue. Most of the speeches party will be taken care by Modi and Shah, while Nabin would handle organisational matters.
Of course, there is an array of seasoned general secretaries, secretaries and state in charges in BJP and RSS who would be there to help Nabin in running the show.
