The wait is over for Indians who are eager to buy Elon Musk’s SpaceX shares. When the markets open in the US Monday, any Indian can buy them through international brokerage firms or platforms. The IPO issue price was 135 US dollars, but it is expected to trade around 160 dollars (around Rs 15,200) when the markets open.
Many Indians are ready to invest in SpaceX shares. They believe that every share they buy would make them richer in coming years and they would want to part of Musk’s dreamy yet promising future projects. A brokerage firm executive in Hyderabad told Excel India that they are getting inquiries from investors on how to buy SpaceX shares. “It appears there is a lot of enthusiasm among Hyderabadis and Indians as well on this,” said the person who works with Aditya Birla Money Limited.
But, Indian investors cannot directly apply for or participate in the primary SpaceX IPO allotment. The US book-building process heavily restricts foreign retail participation. However, you can easily buy shares in the secondary market once the stock begins trading on the Nasdaq (ticker symbol: SPCX.
To purchase SpaceX stock on the secondary market, you need to use an international brokerage account that allows trading in US securities. The process operates within the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India’s Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), which allows you to remit up to $250,000 (around Rs 24 crore) per financial year for foreign investments.
Secondary market is now open
Now the secondary market for SpaceX is open as the company transitioned from a private entity to a publicly traded company on June 12, 2026. You can now buy and sell shares of SpaceX (ticker symbol SPCX) on public stock exchanges through any standard retail brokerage account.
