Telangana  Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao participated in Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC)’s face to face with ministers programme at party office, Gandhi Bhavan, Nampally in Hyderabad on October 7, Monday.  This face to face with ministers programme has been conceived to bridge the gap between the government and the Congress party at the state level.

New PCC president Mahesh Goud launched this drive recently where specified ministers would come to Gandhi Bhavan on a day and spend time receiving and solving public grievances. Already, there is a public interface programme at the official level, but this party front activity is aimed at satisfying the cadre who often complain of being neglected by the ministers.

On October 7, Minister Thummala received as many as  95 petitions from the public and most of them pertained to land issues, jobs and house sites or houses etc. In most of the cases, the minister issued instructions to the concerned officials and told them to solve the problems. He told the public that they can again come back if their problems are not solved immediatley.

Farm loan waiver still under works

Speaking on the occasion, Thummala said that Telangana government’s farm loan waiver programme is still incomplete and that it would take some more time to complete it. “So far, we have waived loans of around 22 lakh farmers and soon will waive another 20 lakh farmers too,” he said. The minister blamed the opposition BRS for misleading farmers that most of them were left out of the waiver programme.

Thummala appreciated the drive of PCC president Mahesh Goud for launching this face to face with ministers programme at Gandhi Bhavan as it would help the ministers better understand the problems of the people, first hand. He ruled out public discontent against the Congress government in Telangana as most of their issues are attended to. He criticised BJP leader for leveling baseless charges against the Congress government.
