Tiny birds big draw of Ex-MP Santosh’s lens

BRS former Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar is always captivated by small birds in their natural habitats. His passion for fauna and nature goes on in the new year of 2025 too. Founder leader of Green India Challenge almost eight years back, Santosh made it a point to bring awareness among people on the need to preserve and admire the nature. This weekly photography hobby has made him a soldier of green movement.

This Sunday, January 19, he posted on X four pics of backyard birds, all are tiny, yet a big draw. As one of Santosh’s followers on X, @heereshdubey pointed out, these birds include a Flower-pecker and an Indian White- Eyed passarine.  Interestingly, Santosh never takes this weekend photography as a routine, as he pays utmost care to ensure get good closeups. This week, he captured a flowerpecker just about to grab an Anjeer fruit on a tree branch. Such a nice pic!

In previous two Sundays of January too, Santosh trained his camera on small birds, mostly seen in our social environs.  These backyard birds are our best friends. But, we mostly go uncaring about them. How many of us have offered them any food – nuts, grain or fruits? Rarely, I think.  But, the benefit they do to us is enormous.  They are guardians of our environment. Isn’t it our duty to educate our youngsters about them? By this tiny gesture of sharing photos of nature and birds, this former MP is doing yeoman service to our society.
