Malkajgiri BJP MP Etela Rajender called on Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to represent the problems of farmers in and round his Lok Saha constituency in New Delhi on October 16, Wednesday. Rajender  submitted a memorandum on the problems arising out of uneven land acquisition for the Region Ring Road (RRR) around Hyderabad.

Etela later talking to media said that the farmers of Gajwel, Bhongir and Choutuppal areas, mostly northern part of the RRR were facing severe difficulties due to the lands being acquired within a radius of 28 km for the project. “RRR is coming up with a radius of around 40 km around Hyderabad as per the authorities of the national highways. But, in these areas, the radius is just 28 km,” said he. Senior BJP leader Sudhakar Gande was with Rajender at the media meet.

Rajender said that Gadkari had promised that soon a meeting would be held with the concerned officials to sort out the matter. The MP said that if the lands are acquired as it is, most of the farmers who had already lost their valuable lands for various governmental schemes would further suffer. “The government is giving compensation at the rate of just Rs 10 lakh per acre, but their land are much more costlier,” said Rajender.

The BJP also called on union urban development minister Manoharlal Khattar to  seek more double bed room houses to Telangana. Though the central government had earlier sanctioned around 2.40 lakh lakhs houses to Telangana, the then KCR government couldn’t construct them, said the MP. This time, the centre should ensure that the houses should be allotted to the eligible poor people only.

Hydraa misused

Rajender alleged that the Revanth Reddy led Congress government had been using the newly created police led body, Hydraa to demolish the houses of the poor and benefit the rich builders. Rajender said that thousands of people were displaced in his Malkajgiri LS constituency limits around Hyderabad city. He suggested that instead of demolishing the houses of the poor, the government can repair all nalas to clean up the river Musi.
