“Israel adapts modern methods for cultivation of Horticultural crops”, said Shri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University Vice- Chancellor Dr. B. Neeraja Prabhakar
Shri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. Mrs. B. Neeraja Prabhakar said that by cultivating horticultural crops with modern methods in less water resources and less land, the highest productivity and quality are being achieved in Israel.
Under the leadership of Telangana State Agriculture Commissioner Hanumantha Rao, many agricultural officials of various districts, representatives of Rythubandhu Samiti and scientists are visiting Israel for three days. This is part of Telangana government’s efforts to promote agriculture productivity and impart innovative methods to farmers.
“Green Houses boost productivity”
Dr Neeraja Prabhakar said that the vegetables cultivated in Israel under green houses as part of protected cultivation are ideal for the world in terms of quality and productivity. He said that the Telangana state government has already given huge subsidies to the farmers to get more profits through cultivation in the greenhouses. She said that workshops will be conducted to Telangana state farmers on Israeli- style vegetable cultivation.
As part of the visit, Dr. Neeraja Prabhakar made a thorough inspection of the avocado plantations, particularly the avocado and grape plantations in southern Israel, as well as the pomegranate plantations in northern Israel. She inquired about the mechanization of various vegetables and horticultural crops and the methods of cultivation in Israel.
The Vice Chancellor said that we have collected the experiences of farmers and the scientific techniques followed by them in producing quality eggplant and lemon, according to a press release from the university.
