Kejriwal walks the talk

AAP national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has set a healthy tradition by naming his party MP Bhagwant Mann as the chief ministerial candidate for Punjab. Mann, a folk singer turned TV anchor is so popular among Punjab voters. For selecting Mann, Kejriwal conducted a survey through telephone. There was a good response to the survey from the public.

The interesting part is that Kejriwal has announced that his name too figured in the list of CM candidates of AAP, and polled less support than Mann in the survey. This reflects the honesty of Kejriwal, who admitted that Mann is more popular than him in Punjab. How many of our other political leaders have this kind of honesty?

Of course, there is criticism that there is not transparency in APP’s telephone survey as it was an internal affair. Still the practice of consulting people on an important issue like electing CM candidate in the elections is a healthy practice. Kejriwal dared to walk the talk, but are there others to do the same?
