KTR seeks Global Smart City status to Hyderabad

Telangana IT

Telangana IT and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to grant Global Smart City status to Hyderabad. For this, he estimated Rs 7,778 crore. KTR asked the FM to allocate this amount in the coming Union Budget for 2022-23, which will be presented in the Parliament on Feb 1.

Already, Telangana’s TRS government led by KCR has taken up several projects in the city including a Musi river cleaning mission and a slew of flyovers and road bridges etc; which will put the city on the global map. Now, Hyderabad is home for several MNCs including IT giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Qualcomm etc. This city is also home for several major pharma firms.

With these Rs 7,778 crore funds, the government plans to take up around 100 km of skywalks, 166 km major corridors, and other flyovers. The State municipal administration department is going to mobilize around Rs 45,000 crore for the city development and KTR told the FM to give at least a small portion of this, through the Union Budget.
