Rama Krishna Sangem
N Ramachander Rao who has completed his first 100 days as the president of Telangana BJP now faces a test to his leadership in the form of Jubilee Hills assembly by-election. This seat goes to polls on November 11. Though BJP is not that strong here, Ramchander is now expected to put up a decent fight so that the party national leadership feels satisfied with his leadership qualities. Though the filing of nominations has begun, BJP is yet to announce its candidate by October 13 night.
Congress has fielded Naveen Yadav, a local and a BC candidate with enough clout and resources. Main opposition BRS has given ticket to Sunitha wife of former MLA Maganti Gopinath who’s untimely death has caused the by-poll. BJP is a dilemma on whether to field one of its aspirants or to bring in a strong outsider to give a fight – if necessary to win the seat. The reason for BJP’s hopes hings on the fact that the close to 3 lakh voters of Jubilee Hills will definitely consider BJP as an option to teach a lesson to the ruling Congress.
Ramachander is acceptable and approachable to one and all in the party. When he was made Telangana BJP unit president four months ago, not many opposed him. All the groups in the party – both the old guards and new comers – felt comfortable. He is an organisation man, having spent four decades at different levels. His Brahmani caste background is no threat to anyone. He is a good speaker and lawyer. There were doubts over his field level skills. But, as he is enjoying his new job, Ramachander is extensively touring too.
100 days of activities
Ramachander Rao’s office issued a press release on October 13, explaining what all he has done in the last 100 days. Right from the membership drive before he became the president to leading the party’s agitations against the failed promises of Revanth Reddy government, Ramachander led fron the front, said the release.
One of the first success of Telangana state BJP president Ramchander Rao , who has completed 100 days of his presidentship after assuming charge as party president, he has successfully rejuvenated and instill confidence in the party cadre across the state which is going to face elections in coming days. The journey of Ramchander Rao from the level of an activist to the State President is a testament to the recognition that service by party workers receives within the party.
He has toured all the old districts of the state and participated in all the major drives of the party including going to people on the benefits of PM Modi’s GST 2.0 reforms and the celebration of 11 years in office as the PM. “My aim is to bring back BJP to power in Telangana in the next assembly elections,” said Ramachander.
