Bird

Many of us may wonder about the purpose of BRS former Rajya Sabha MP and Green India Challenge founder promote J Santosh Kumar’s birds’ photos. This is his commitment to post on social media photos of wildlife and nature every weekend, Sundays. For the last three years or so, he has been regularly posting these pics on X. The above pic is one of his four photographs this Sunday.

They are liked by most, every week not less than 1,000 views and hundreds of likes and reposts too. I am sure they are circulated among a wider audience as they go viral. If you see the comments section, these photos are an inspiration for many, in seeing, liking and loving environment and nature’s splendor.

Bird photography for the environment involves capturing images of birds in their natural habitats to raise awareness and promote conservation, focusing on ethical practices, technical skills, and an appreciation for the natural world, says experts on the subject. A good birds photo will always not just attract others but also gives satisfaction to the photographer.

Not an easy job

Vital elements include respecting bird behavior, using natural light, getting to eye-level with the subject, and understanding bird activity patterns, often using apps like eBird to locate them. The goal is to tell a story about the bird and its ecosystem, going beyond simple portraits to highlight ecological interactions.

Leave alone the technical aspects of photography, there are several precautions in bird photography. Some of them are ethical issues: Never chase or disturb birds, especially rare ones. Respect Their Habitat: Stay on designated paths and avoid creating excessive noise or disruption.

Be a Birder First: Develop a deep appreciation for birds and their environment before focusing on photography. Use Natural Settings: Focus on natural behaviors and environments rather than forcing interactions or using bait. These are some of the suggestions for those who are interested in bird photography.
