Rama Krishna Sangem
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will turn 75 tomorrow – September 17, Wednesday. The ruling BJP will launch nationwide celebrations to mark this occasion, under a campaign of Sewa Pakhwada (Fortnight of Service) all over India. BJP as a party and its governments in many states will take up many programmes for 15 days from Wednesday.
There was a talk of Modi’s retirement sometime back, but after RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat recently cleared the air and said that no one is going to retire, this talk is ended. For the last few days or weeks, Modi has been extensively touring all over the world and within the country too. There are no signs of tiring, leave alone retiring.
Modi, born in Gujarat on September 17, 1950, is 75 years old. Rather than indulging in private celebrations, his birthday will be observed with a series of national public service and development activities, as has been his practice throughout his years in power. Government departments too will join the revelry through schemes and events.
Although a birthday trip to Bihar to attend the spiritual Pitru Paksha Mela has not been confirmed, a number of states and party organisations have made firm arrangements to mark the milestone. As on Tuesday, the PM will spend his day in Madhya Pradesh. Probably in the company of cheetahs of Kuno forest.
Also Hyderabad Liberation Day
The events for the day are a mix of new initiative launches and public campaigning activities. In Telangana, BJP will organize a meeting in Hyderabad to mark the occasion that also coincides with Hyderabad Liberation Day, signifying fall of erstwhile Nizam’s state to the Indian police on September 17, 1948. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest at this meeting where union minister Kishan Reddy and BJP state president N Ramachander Rao will participate.
Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also open 15 developmental projects, including new hospital blocks and health centers. The day will also witness the launch of a “Thank You Modiji” programme at Kartavya Path with a blood donation camp and an exhibition.
Odisha: In honor of the Prime Minister, the state government will kick off the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, with 75 lakh saplings planted in a single day in Odisha.
Uttar Pradesh: The state will launch a ‘Poshan Abhiyan’ on women’s and girls’ health and a ‘Kaushal Mahotsav’ where 7,500 candidates will receive appointment letters. A big tree plantation drive to form ‘Namo Van’ and ‘Namo Parks’ is in the works.
Pune: A dazzling drone show is to mark the Prime Minister’s record of achievements during his 11 years in office.
