“Europe hails PM Modi’s digital infra”: Sudhakar Gande

“European business leaders are very impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives on the front of building digital infrastructure or digital stack in the last few years,” said leading tech entrepreneurs, investment banker and senior BJP leader Sudhakar Gande. Gande presently in Athens to attend to a two day Horasis conference with its focus on Greece-India business relations on September 15, 16.

Talking to Excel India from Athens on September 16, Tuesday, evening, Gande felt there was a tremendous business opportunities India and Greece. Earlier this week, he attended a business conference organised by persons related to Europe India Chamber of Commerce at Brussels, Belgium. Even at Brussels, Gande observed eagerness among the EU business leaders to trade with India. He was the chief guest at both the global events/

 

“Ancient civilizations” 

“Greece and India are two ancient civilizations  and had trade relationships from times immemorial. Both the countries need to work together to capitalize on emerging opportunities including Digital Infrastructure ( DI ) and Governance under DI. Greece has done a good job on governance of DI in thier country and several EU countries are appreciating the same,” said Gande

“In all my speeches and interactions with various participants I have highlighted key achievements of PM Modi’s government including Digital Infrastructure we have built in India which enabled the businesses including e-commerce growing Multi fold  and payment systems became envy of the world.

The DI enabled govt prog’s to reach out the poorest , opening over 600 million bank accounts . We have discussed about the massive infrastructure plan of GOI and the role Greek companies can this initiative”.

“The participants and other EU and Greek government officials who attended the prog were very impressed by the key achievements of Modi Govt  , particularly DI and DI related achievements as highlighted above , Logistics and other  Infrastructure initiatives of GoI,” said Gande. Interesting fact is that at both Brussels and Athens, business leaders showed keenness to visit India.

“I invited the business leaders from Europe to come to India and see the rapid changes that have happened in over a decade under the leadership of PM Modi,” said Sudhkar Gande. He got proposals to launch business platforms between India and other EU countries, especially France. The possible signing of an FTA (Free Trade Agreement between India and the UK and India and EU would definitely boost trade ties between the geographies.

The two day prog has over 250 delegates attending the prog from 25 Countries including several Indians from India diaspora. The prog focussed on several sectors including the following key sectors:  Shopping, Logistics,  AI , IT and Data Sciences, Stratup’s, Tourism, Greece as a hub for India for entering EU and MEA, Greece is the fastest growing economy in EU- India us contributing to 15 % of the new growth in the world.

 

Direct flight between India & Greece

The Horasis team felt the need for at least one direct flight between India and Greece, since they are none today. They would like request GOI to start at lest one direct flight from India to Athens.  ⁠The recent visit of PM Modi to Greece was a grand success and the Greece govt officials have indicated they are going work to accelerate the IGrece – India trade  to reach next level at the earliest, said Sudhakar Gande.
