Thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s continued focus, Telangana emerged the only state in the country that has overcome power cuts and is providing continuous quality power to all sectors within a short span since its formation. The plans designed by the visionary chief minister KCR helped attaining self reliance on the power generation. CM KCR’s policy to give free power to farm sector in a way powering all other sectors to prosperity.

This has led the state of Telangana a leader in agriculture, industrial, service and business sectors. The power generation capacity of 7778 MW in 2014 has increased to a whopping 18567 MW by 2023. The government has also massively expanded power supply systems and it spent Rs.97,321 crores in these 9 years to strengthen production and supply systems.

The government is providing electricity subsidy to give impetus to the sectors that contribute to the all-round development of the state. After the formation of Telangana state, more than Rs. 50,000 crore were given as subsidy on electricity supplied to 72. 41 lakh consumers belonging to household, employment and agriculture sectors, according to a media release from the Commissioner of Information & Public Relations department of Telangana.

The electricity given by the government is a boost to the economic development of farmers and various low-income groups which lead to improve their living conditions, aid the release.

 

27.48 lakh agriculture connections

The government is covering free a total of 27.48 lakh agricultural electricity connections and it government is bearing the electricity charges of BPL families of about 35 lakh 61 thousand 809 households consuming 0-50 units of electricity per month.

A total of 25.43  lakh scheduled caste consumers using less than 101 units per month, 2 lakh 95 thousand 114 scheduled tribe consumers are benefited through government power policies. Also, 6494 poultry farm owners, 32,654 hair cutting salon owners, 65,806 laundry shop owners, and 56 Dobhi Ghats beneficiaries are getting the benefit of electricity subsidy.

Besides these, the government is also supplying subsidized electricity to 5011 power looms and 39 spinning mills. Economy has gained momentum with the subsidized electricity given by the government
