Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on June 30 Wednesday held an elaborate review of security arrangements for the three day Hyderabad visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from July 2-4. Modi is coming to the city for BJP national executive meetings on July 2 & 3. On July 4 morning, the PM will leave for Andhra Pradesh to inaugurate the statue of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
PM Modi, his almost entire team of Cabinet ministers, around 60, BJP ruled states CMs, around 15, and other VIPs will be staying in Hyderabad during this period. Given the present volatile tensions in the country, especially the recent Udaipur incident, providing security to such a large number of the VVIPs will be a big challenge to the Telangana government and the police forces.
SPG (Special Protection Group) which looks after the PM security is camping in the city for the last few days and the City police machinery is leaving no stone unturned to ensure security coverage to the VVIPs, while seeing that common people were not subjected to hardships. PM and the delegates, estimated to be around 250, will be participating in EC meetings at HICC grounds on July 2 and half day on 3rd.
The PM will address a public meeting at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad on July 3 evening. BJP leadership is mobilising huge crowds fro the meeting. They claim the 10 lakh people will come, but even if half of that number comes, it will lead to big traffic congestion in the city. The police will have to see that PM’s security is not compromised at the public meeting while maintaining smooth traffic flow elsewhere.
Somesh Kumar chaired the meeting which was also attended by DGP Mahender Reddy, Hyderabad city police commissioner CV Anand, Speical Municipal CS Arvind Kumar, principal energy secretary Sunil Sharma, Home secretary Ravi Gupta, Health secretary SAM Rizvi, GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar and several top officials.
