Musi River Heritage Ride was a combination of encouraging active and eco-friendly mobility and heritage awareness. This is what Hyderabad Cycling Revolution people did in the city on August 4, Sunday. A wonderful cloudy early Shravana morning – from 6-8 am – was enjoyed by scores of youth who gathered on the banks of Musi River, for whose development Revanth Reddy’s government has some big plans.
The cycling community of Hyderabad with the movement Hyderabad Cycling Revolution version 4.0 had the second instance of Musi River Community Engagement on Sunday in the banks of Musi River, near Osmania General Hospital,” said Ravi Sambari, co-founder of Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, talking to Excel India. This Hyderabad Cycling
Revolution, an eco-friendly mobility awareness group has been doing its activities since 2021. It was a great collaboration between Community, Organizations, Students from Colleges and Government and this is an excellent example of the magic we can produce when we all come together.
We had about 250 community members gathered near the heritage tree, which belongs to 1908 and the one which saved 150 people during the floods. Mohammed Haseeb, heritage man of Hyderabad briefed about the heritage significance of the Musi River and also about the tree. Students were delighted to listen to the past and its significance.
Why this?
With the Government project for Musi River Rejuvenation in progress, we as part of Hyderabad Cycling Revolution take the responsibility from community to bring the awareness and campaign about the significance of the lifeline of the city that is the Musi river. Usage of more cycling tracks, encouraging walk, public transport are the other campaign themes of the group.
This series will continue Every First Saturday of the month. This is in collaboration with GHMC and with the guidance of GHMC commissioner K Amrapali, IAS, said Ravi. GHMC DC Goshamahal and AMOH too were present to campaign for awareness on prevention of Dengue fever and other seasonal entomological diseases on the occasion.
