Vice Chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University Dr B Neeraja Prabhakar is nominated by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi as Chairman for the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) in respect of ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research, Pedavegi, Andhra Pradesh for the period of three years, from June 13, 2023.
The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) is a 10-member committee. Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research, Pedavegi is the only premier institute in the Country which conducts the research in oil palm and develops technologies related to oil palm that are adoptable to all the oil palm growing states.
The ICAR which has constituted 10-member committee under the chairman ship of Dr. B. Neeraja Prabhakar. The committee will advise the IIOPR, Peddavegi in terms of giving direction for conducting research areas in oil palm based on the problems faced by the oil farm farmers of the country, according to a media release from the horticulture university on July 4, Tuesday.
Further, Dr Neeraja Prabhakar, Vice Chancellor, SKLTHSU us also the member of Telangana Oil palm Advisory committee which advises the Telangana government on extension of the areas under cultivation oil palm, problems related to cultivation of oil palm and faced by oil palm processing industry. In her capacity as Chairman of RAC, she will guide the overall research at the Pedavegi institute in the coming years.
“Telangana future address for Oil palm”
Dr.Neeraja Prabhakar responding to her appointment said that Telangana will be the future address to oil palm cultivation in India. Telangana will also address the edible oil shortage which is being faced by India, now. Telangana oil palm bunches are so qualitative good oil recovery is also up to the mark, she added. On her appointment, several faculty and administration members congratulated Dr Neeraja Prabhakar.
