DRDO, GIC have common ground
It’s interesting to know that DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) with which Dr Satheesh Reddy has a long association in various positions over the years – has a common ground with – Green India Challenge, MP Santosh founded six years ago. Though DRDO is a hardcore defence establishment, it is deeply aware of its role as a stakeholder of India’s future – Sustainable development is key to today’s science and technology.
DRDO’s slogan – “Balasya Mulam, Vigyanam” (Science of source of strength) – has a connotation that environment is integral part of science. DRDO of India, based out of Hyderabad, has always been ahead in promoting green initiatives like plantation of trees, nurturing environment and nature. DRDO has found several new innovative technologies to promote sustainable livelihoods – protecting biodiversity and boosting clean energies.
DRDO is one of the wings of government that actively participated in Swaccha Bharat Mission – in all wings of defence ministry units. Some of the technologies invented and developed by DRDO. From rainwater harvesting to bio-gas plants to waste management, DRDO has innovated many technologies that benefit our country. Most of Defence ministry premises are full of greenery. DRDO’s clean air, clean water initiatives too are remarkable.
