India’s tallest 125 feet statue of Dr BR Ambedkar that is going to be unveiled in Hyderabad on April 14, Friday got a green dimension. BRS Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar has given a call for all to plant a sapling to mark this memorable occasion, through his Green India Challenge (GIC). This is also in tune with the will of late Bharat Rathna who called for increasing green cover in those days.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) will unveil the statue of Ambedkar which has come up on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake in the heart of Hyderabad, amid a gala function to mark the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar. This prestigious statue has been installed on an area of around 11 acres and at a cost of Rs 146 crore.
“Plant a sapling before seeking my appointment” the words of Ambedkar have inspired Santosh to call for planting trees on the occasion. “The vision of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Ji, the chief architect of our constitution, with regard to not only equality among humans but also care and concern towards mother nature was amazing, as when he was the first union union law and justice minister he wanted his visitors to see him only after planting a sapling,” said Santosh.
As we are treating our constitution, a guiding force, we at #GreenIndiaChallenge would like all people to get inspired by his call for planting saplings. On the proud occasion of his birthday and unveiling of his 125 feet statue on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake in the city. #GIC urge you all to plant a sapling,” said Sanotsh in a media release on April 12, Wednesday.
Kishore Goud, member of Telangana BC commission expressed his happiness over the call of Sanotsh as it would contribute to increasing green cover on the happy occasion of birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.
