“Horticulture has 100 pc job potential”: VC Dr Raji Reddy

The students who passed out of the Telangana Horticultural University will have 100 per cent prospects of job placements in the sector, said varsity  Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Raji  Reddy.

The vice chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University said that changes will be made in horticulture education with the aim of improving skills and providing 100% employment to horticulture students in Telangana state. He called upon the students to make the training and skill the natural shields of the students. Industry oriented

Horticultural crops will also be encouraged, he said. He said that the university will work with other industries and expert universities to develop better opportunities for students. As well as the surrounding environment, said a press release.

Dr. Rajir Rddy, Vice Chancellor of Sri Konda Laxman Horticultural University, has called upon horticulturists to work hard to reduce the damage caused to horticultural crops in the wake of  climate change. He said that the research students are the backbone of the university.

He mentioned that conferences will be organized with farmers and scientists from mandal level to district level and state level according to horticultural crops. He spoke as the chief guest at the meeting organized by the Vice Chancellor with the students and scientists at the auditorium of College of Horticulture, Rajendranagar under the auspices of Shri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University.

 

Bright future for horticulture sector

Vice Chancellor said that in the context of 25% GSTP contribution with only 12.8 lakh acres of horticulture crops in Telangana state, there are immense opportunities for the horticulture sector of Telangana state in the future. Dr. Danda Rajireddy, Vice Chancellor of the University stated that the Horticultural university  is committed to solving the problems of the farmers in the horticulture sector at the field level even though it is risky.

 

No fancy research

Experts and scientists were asked by the Vice Chancellor not to undertake research just for sensationalism. He said that the research results are not useful for the farmers, so do not touch such researches, and those researches are not necessary for the farmers. He said that state level conferences will be organized for each horticultural crop grown in Telangana state. He also said on this occasion that a calendar of horticultural crops will be prepared with the tasks to be undertaken by the farmers crop wise. The results of research carried out by scientists should be useful for farmers to increase yield, improve quality and reduce cost. He asked that the results be conveyed to the farmers who thoroughly study every aspect even the smallest aspect. Keeping in mind the increasing number of women horticulture farmers, special horticultural women’s fairs will be organized for them, he said.

 

Plans to Overcome Vegetable Scarcity

Dr. Raji Reddy said that to overcome the current shortage of vegetables in the state, a special method will be developed to meet the vegetable needs of the state in the future and solve the problem with research and extension technology. He said that plans will be made to work with specialized universities across the country. He said that measures will be taken to make the cultivation profitable for the farmers and to make the university useful for the development of the state.
