In a significant development to promote all disciplines coming under the umbrella of adventure sports, across the State, the Adventure Club of Telangana State (ACTS) has collaborated with Sports Village. The tie-up took off in the city on Saturday when ACTS founder K. Ranga Rao and co-founder Bajrang Shah joined hands with Sports Village CEO Mohammad Shamsuddin.
It had an auspicious beginning when the three along with ACTS Joint Secretary Arif met the State Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao at Ravindra Bharathi on October 19, said a press release from Snaps India News.
The team appraised the Minister about the plethora of activities undertaken by the Club, including kayaking, bungee leaping, water rafting, scuba diving, rock climbing, paragliding and para jumping, among others.
Minister appreciates ACTS
Krishna Rao appreciated the activities initiated by ACTS towards motivating youngsters from Telangana to take to adventure sports and win laurels for the State.
The ACTS team urged the Minister to recognise them as a resource agency of the Tourism Department so that they could together give fillip to the club activities, including motivating and mentoring students. They also informed the Minister that Tourism Ministries, as a matter of promotion of tourist spots in their respective states, also engage adventure sports clubs in locations that are ideal for the visitors to indulge in any form of adventure sports.
Krishna Rao gave a patient hearing and responded positively to requests for recognising and promoting the exciting world of adventure sports as Telangana boasts of many places that are ideal for several of such disciplines. He underscored the utmost importance of promoting eco adventure tourism in Telangana.
The Tourism Minister complimented ACTS for deciding to host a Climbing and speed bouldering Championship for the “Sports Climbing” CM’s Cup from January 8 to 12, 2025.
Apeal to youngsters: Meanwhile, ACTS founder K. Ranga Rao exhorted young boys and girls, aged between 18 and 30 years, to enrol their names by contacting 78935 98297 on WhatsApp. The Club will train youngsters in adventure activities at popular tourist spots, hilly terrains, waterfalls and forts of Telangana. Mountaineering activity at the Himalayas is also part of ACTS agenda, he said.
