BRS Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar has been awarded Green Ribbon Champion by leading media group – Network 18 for contributing environmental protection. Santosh Kumar is also a member of Parliamentary committee on environment and nature. He launched Green India Challenge (GIC) five years ago to spread the cause of planting trees and greenery.

Santosh Kumar could not attend the function held in New Delhi last week to receive the award due to his preoccupation.  So, a representative of Network 18 Group called on him at Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderabad on April 1, Saturday and presented  the award to him. Santosh thanked the media group for this recognition and said that the credit for this goes to all those who responded to his GIC campaign.

Network 18 Group in a statement said that Santosh Kumar has been selected as Green Ribbon Champion for his efforts to environmental protection, improve green cover, social awareness, representation of all communities and promoting celebrities from various fields as Green Ambassadors across the country. This award comes at a time when concerns over climate change echoed at the global level seriously.

The Network 18 representatives said that the efforts made by Green India Challenge to create awareness about the big threat to mankind  due to climate change is commendable. Santosh told Excel India that GIC has been launched in response to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR)’s call for promoting greenery in Telangana through “Telangana Ku Harita Haaram”.

My GIC is to promote our leader’s call for planting more trees and increasing greenery,” said Sanotsh. Santosh has also been running #Sunday Photograph campaign by posting pictures of wildlife and nature through social media every Sunday.  The young MP is planning to promote Green Clubs in educational institutions to bring awareness among youth and students on environment and nature.
