Santosh who launched Green India Challenge (GIC) five years ago to spread the message of green world makes it a point to promote planting of trees on any happy occasion.

Santosh told those who gathered with him that a New Year is an occasion to promote new hope for environment that is vital to our society at a time when pollution has emerged a threat to our livelihoods. The only way to fight Climate Change and every growing pollution is spreading greenery around us. He asked everyone, particularly the youth to plant a sapling on every New Year eve.

Besides another BRS Rajya Sabha MP Badugu Lingaiah Yadav, several others including Venkat Narayana, B Venugopal Rakesh, Cheti Rama Rao, GIC co-founder Raghava were present on the occasion. Thanks to GIC’s efforts over the years, youth have made it a point to plant a sapling on their birthdays, marriage anniversaries and even on college freshers’s days.

“Hope 2022 has been the year o success and happiness for all of you. At the dawn on the first day of 2023, @GreenIndiaChallenge urge you to make our planet greener by planting a tree. I wish you all to have a great year ahead and find everything your desires,” Santosh tweeted @MPsanthutrs. He said GIC will promote the cause of green on New Year eve.

He captures the pic of sparrow, endangered bird

Santosh has been posting in social media a photo of nature every Sunday, as part of his weekly dose of photography. This Sunday, on January 1, Sunday, the young MP captured the pic of a kind of sparrow through his Nikon 850 camera.  This tiny bird,  with 25 subspecies, is an endangered species over the years. Shrinking tree cover in the city and ever expanding concrete jungle is the main reason for their rapid extinction.

Previous  Sunday, December 25, Christmas day too he posted another tiny bird – cuckoo like brewer’s blackbird on his camera. This too is an endangered bird, according to an ornithologist who follows Santhosh’s Sunday pictures. “It is good that MP Santhosh has been clicking commonly sighted birds around us. But, the point is most of them are in danger zone, let his pics create awareness among people,” said a zoology professor from Osmania University.
