Palamuru University gets Rs 100 cr from PM-RUSA

February 19, 2024 is  the most memorable day in the history of Palamuru University as the Ministry of Higher Education, Govt. of India has announced a sanction of Rs 100 crore to Palamuru University under the Multidisciplinary Research University (MERU) Component of PMUSHA ( Prime Minister Ucchattar Siksha Abhiyaan earlier called RUSA – Rastriya Ucchattar Siksha Abiyaan).

Palamuru University is one among the 26 Universities nationwide and the only university in Telangana to get this grant, according to a press release from the university.

The inauguration of this event will be done by Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji,  ationwide, through video conference on 20-02-2024, at 11.am. Prof.L.B.Laxmikanth Rathod, Vice Chancellor, Palamuru University has expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modiji and Dharmendra Pradhanji, Minister for Higher Education, Govt. Of India.

He expressed his gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy, Union Minister G.Kishan Reddy Member of Parliament, Mahabubnagar Manne Srinivas Reddy, MLA Ennam Srinivas Reddy and BJP Vice President DK.Aruna,  for their continuous support in getting these grants.

Prof Rathod also thanked Telangana Principal Education Secretary Burra Venkatesham IAS,  State PMUSHA Co-ordinator and officials of PMUSHA for their help in processing the proposals, submitting, and getting the grants from Central Govt. special acknowledgements to the leaders and well- wishers of sons of soil who have pursued at central to get the grants.

 

More research, more facilities

The Vice Chancellor explained the grants sanctioned to the university from its establishment. Palamuru University was established as a State Govt. University in 2008 with just 1.72 Crores has been developed in a phased manner and today after the bifurcation of the State, now the university is getting Rs.10.91 Crore budget under salary grant. State Govt has sanctioned 12 Crores and 90 lakhs under development grants. Central Govt. has sanctioned 20 Crores under RUSA grants.

With these grants and utilizing university internal resources, the University was able to take up many developmental activities like buildings, infrastructure, student support facilities, sports  facilities etc. Many development activities proposed were hampered due to paucity of funds. However, the grants sanctioned under MERU of  PMUSHA will give a big boost to these activities.

It has come as a big boon to Palamuru University where a major part of this grant (Rs 80 crore approx.) may be used for new constructions, 14 crores for research facilities, 5 crores for renovations and 3 crores for soft component as per the proposals sent to the Central govt. and will be utilized as per guidelines of MERU of PMUSHA.

Vice Chancellor expressed his happiness and said with the blessings of the almighty, and suggestions from university well-wishers, a master plan would be made for the overall development of the university.

Founder vice Chancellor Prof.Gopal reddy and former vice Chancellors Prof. Bhagyanarayana, Prof.Rajarathnam, and former Registrars and EC members expressed their best wishes and congratulations to the Vice Chancellor, Staff and students for this great achievement. Hon’ble MLA, Mahabubnagar, Sri Ennam Srinivas Reddy, In charge registrar and OSD to VC Dr.D.Madhusudan Reddy, Principal Dr.N.Chandra Kiran, Vice Principal Dr.M.Krishnaiah, PRO Dr.S.Ravikumar were others present at the meeting.
