PM Modi Twitter followers cross 90 million, World No 8

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s actual popularity within India will be known only after 2024 Lok Sabha elections. But, now his followers on Twitter has crossed 90 million. This figure puts him in World No 8th rank in Twitter fan base. Modi is much ahead of US President Joe Biden at 37.3 million followers and UK PM Rishi Sunak with 2 million followers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi now has more than 90 million followers on Twitter that made him one of the most followed active politicians across the globe on the social media platform.

With 90.2 million followers (9 crore and 2 lakh), PM Modi is the most followed Indian on Twitter. His followers’ list includes Twitter boss Elon Musk, who has the highest follower count on the social networking platform and follows total 195 individuals. Meanwhile, PM Modi follows 2,589 people on Twitter.

As part of his social media outreach, PM Modi joined Twitter in 2009 during his stint as the Gujarat chief minister. Within a year, he had a lakh followers. In July 2020, the PM’s Twitter follower count touched 60 million.

According to the list released by World of Statistics on its official Twitter handle on July 9, PM Modi is the only Indian among the top 10 individuals who are most followed on Twitter in the world. PM Modi secured the eighth position in the list surpassing former US President Donald Trump who has 86.6 million followers and American singer and actress Lady Gaga who has 84.1 million followers.

 

Elon Musk World No 1

Elon Musk topped the list with 147 million followers on the social media platform followed by former US President Barack Obama with 132.1 million, singer Justin Bieber with 11 million, and legendary football player Cristiano Ronaldo with 108.9 million followers.

Among other world leaders, United States President Joe Biden is followed by 37.3 million accounts while UK PM Rishi Sunak has 2 million followers.

PM Modi is very active in his social outreach, either through Twitter or his monthly radio talks Mann Ki Baat. Still we need to see if these fans will help him win a third term as PM of Inida.
