Abhigna Bharat Organisation (ABO), Hyderabad based not-for-profit initiative, has launched legal awareness services for women, children and senior citizens in both the Telugu speaking states – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. ABO founder CEO Dr Sridevi Gade speaking on the launch of the legal awareness drive, said that many awareness events will be taken up by her organization in the next one year.
The launch was held at an event in Hyderabad on November 9, Wednesday. Justice (Retired) D Rajasekhara Reddy, former Director General of Police SK Jayachandra IPS (Retired), Dr Hari Kumar, Dr Rama, of Rama Fertility Centre, Subba Raju Pericherla, Dr Hima, Satya and several other doctors were present on the occasion of launch. Dr Sridevi, a lawyer by profession explained the need for this awareness programme.
November 9, marks the national legal service day as it was on the day in 1995 an Act was brought in on the subject. “ABO will take awareness programmes in educational institutions, work places of women and the places where senior citizens will be available in the coming days,” said Dr Sridevi. For this, ABO will take the cooperation of other like minded associations and organisations.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice (Retd) Rajasekhara Reddy said that there was a need for creating awareness among people on the rights available to them as per the laws. He lauded ABO for taking up this initiative and promised to join the activities wherever needed. Jayachandra appreciated ABO and Sridev for launching this legal awareness programme.
“Interesting thing is creating awareness among senior citizen in our society. There is a need for this as our country is fast seeing growing number of senior citizens. Senior citizens have every right to live with dignity and security. Most of the time, they don’t know how to assert their rights,” said he. Other speakers too pledged to participate in ABO’s activities in this direction.
