Prof Subra Suresh, president of NTU, Singapore has been conferred honorary doctorate at the 11th Convocation of Indian Institute of Technology -Hyderabad (IIT-H) held on the campus in Hyderabad on August 20, Saturday. Prof Suresh, an Indian-American bioengineer and materials scientist is a noted academician is with Singapore based Nanyang Technological Univesity (NTU) since 2018.
IIT-H celebrated its 11th Convocation in the physical mode for the first-time post-pandemic in the gracious presence of Prof Subra Suresh, as Chief Guest of the event.A total of 873 students are getting884 degrees (UG: 282, PG: 468, PhD: 134), with 4 Gold Medals & 32 Silver Medals. It is the highest number of graduates in a year so far, not only at IIT-H but also possibly at any second-generation IIT in India.
This number also includes the first-time graduating batch of our unique Interdisciplinary & Industry-oriented programs: Additive Manufacturing, Energy Science & Technology, E-Waste Resource Engineering & Management, Integrated Sensor systems,Polymers and Biosystems Engineering, and Smart Mobility.
IITHians will adore the specially designed Pochampalli Stoles this year too, as IITH’s Historical Tradition of getting connected to the Culture of the State of Motivating future leaders on this occasion with kind words, Dr B V R Mohan Reddy, Chairman, Board of Goverance, IIT-H, has declared the out-going students the graduates.
It was indeed a magnificent year of IIT Hyderabad being an entrant to Top-7 ahead of two 1st Gen IITs in ARIIA 2021 Ranking, a new department of Heritage, Science & Technology, new Centres of Excellence with NHAI& ICMR and the establishment of various state-of-the-art facilities that include Departmental, Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurial facilities.

In your voyage of self-discovery, I am sure you will encounter situations that make you uncomfortable; embrace them too! It is not always about winning; it is about learning & reinventing yourself continuously”, said Dr Reddy.
