Prof Pindi Pavan Kumar, Registrar of Palamuru University (PU) in Telangana got an invitation for a microbiology conference in Washington DC, US to be held from June 9 to 13, later this year. The conference, ASM (American Society for Microbiology) Microbe 22, is a prestigious event in microbiology. Pavan Kumar, a microbiology professor in the varsity has submitted a paper for the conference.
He is also a member of AMI (association of microbiologists of India). Prof Pavan Kumar’s paper titled ” Development of Host specific Nodulation by indigenous Rhizobia in five agro forestry tree species” – deals with legumes. Nodulation in legumes provides a major conduit of available nitrogen into the biosphere. He has taken species from five places including Bhadrachalam, Jakaram, and Kothagudem for his study. This method can employ across the country for green revolution.
Talking to Excel India, Prof Pavan said: “I am happy to be invited to this conference. I have started making arrangements and processes to go to the US in close to two months”. Prof Pavan is selected through a process from the papers presented from across the world. Incidentally, Palamuru University has a strong department in microbiology, which assumed significance in the post-Covid era.
Palamuru University Vice-Chancellor Prof LB Laxmikanth Rathod complimented Prof Pavan for being invited to this conference.
