Palamuru University (PU) that caters to the old Mahabubnagar district in Telangana has signed an MoU with TASK (Telangana Academy of Science and Knowledge) at T Hub in Hyderabad on July 20, Wednesday. Telangana IT and Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) was present at the signing ceremony. PU Vice Chancellor Prof LB Lakshmikanth Rathod and TASK CEO Srikahnth Sinha signed the MoU.

Telangana State Council of Higher Education Vice Chairman Prof Venkata Ramana, Telangana IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, veteran cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth were among those present. “This MoU opens up new window of academic cooperation for Palamuru University for harnessing entrepreneurial culture and setting up of an incubation center on the varsity campus, said a media release.

TASK will empower the varsity students from science, social sciences and pharmacy streams through training and internships. The students will get industry interface and job ready knowledge, besides personality development and soft skills. TASK is an initiative of Telangana government to prepare graduate and post-grad students to improve their domain knowledge and prepare them for the industry jobs.

Talking to Excel India later, Prof Rathod said: “Close to 50,000 students from around 120 colleges of the PU will avail the services of TASK. Initially, at least 1,500 students will be registered with the academy”. This is an opportunity for students from rural areas or remote institutions to tone up their knowledge, from the experts in various domains. TASK provides updates in different disciplines.

TASK established in 2014 is a not-for profit organisation and doesn’t charge any fee from the students. It offers a TEP (technology entrepreneurship programme), in association with ISB (Indian School of Business) for students who want to test their entrepreneurial skills. There is another programme, Finishing school for unemployed youth, to make them jobs ready. Skilling collaboration with industry is another programme of TASK.
