Rama Krishna Sangem
BRS former Rajya Sabha member and Green India Challenge founder J Santosh Kumar has captured an India White Eye bird this Sunday, April 28. A petry Indian White Eye sitting on top a mango tree branch is well clicked by him as green raw mango beautifully brought in the frame. As usual, Santosh posted these four pics on X at 8 in the morning and by evening 6, they got around 3,000 views, 171 likes.
This shows his undiminished fan base among lovers of nature and bird photography. Good. One of the commentators said, the bird is eyeing for the mango while others complimented the BRS leaders for reminding them of the beauty of wildlife and significance of birds in our everyday environment. As a nature lover said long ago, we just cannot imagine our skyline or trees without birds and winged flights.
Indian white eye, many variants
This tiny yet cute looking Indian white eye is also called differently in different countries mostly in Asia. Some call it Warbling white eye, while for others it is Mountain eye, basically from passerine family. In India, they are seen in light green hues with white belly. What makes them attractive is a dark ring around their eyes, that shine in brilliant white. They are fed on insects, nuts and small fruits etc.
Though they are safe in India, these white eyes are in danger somewhere else- as they are caged as pets and some even eat them. A bird watcher say, these white eyes are respected by Japanese as their art and culture mention these birds of some value. As some media reports put it on Sunday, Hyderabad is home to many birds and tree species. Isn’t it our duty not just to preserve, but also enjoy their presence amidst us?
