Rama Krishna Sangem
Former Rajya Sabha MP and Green India Challenge founder leader J Santosh Kumar this Sunday, July 14, posted four pics of a majestic tiger on X. This is part of his weekly photography which he has been dong for over a couple of years. Through Green India Challenge, Santosh for the last seven years has been striving to promote tree cover in Telangana and elsewhere and bring awareness about nature and wildlife among public.
Apparently, these photos of tiger were taken by the former MP during one of his recent visits to Tadoba National Tiger Reserve park in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Tadoba is one of the best places in the world to watch closely tigers and appreciate their majesty. Here, we can find not less than 115 tigers including some Royal Bengal tigers and 151 leopards and more than 400 species of other wild animals. Here, every tiger has a name!
Watch closely tigers
Interesting part here is we can see tigers move around carelessly even people watch them and take photos. The national park offers jeep safari for visitors particularly during summer so that they can take pics and feel the presence of a big cat crossing a road or in a nearby bush. Tigers in other places are known to be hostile to humans and may pose threat to visitors.
Tiger conservation in India began mid-1970s and several parks and reserves have come up since them to save the big cats. Thousands of forest officials were posted and huge sums of money spent to protect them. But, the biggest worry is the insensitivity of people towards them. Even as the tiger population is growing or steady, poaching of them is unabated over the years. What we need to do is to sensitize our fellow people so that tigers will safe in our country.
