Green India Challenge founder and former Rajya Sabha member J Santosh Kumar participated in the two day conference of UNESCO- ICSE (International Conference on Sustainability Education) held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on September 19, 20. He shared the dais with noted environmentalists like Water Man of India Rajendra Singh, Forest Man of India Padma Shree awardee Jadhav Payang, among others.
In a post on X at the end of the meet, Santosh said:that he was feeling incredibly honoured to share the dais with distinguished environmental stalwarts Rajendra Singh, Jadhav Payang at the @UNESCO_ICSE Youth for Earth 2024. It was a privilege to witness and celebrate the remarkable eco-projects led by young innovators, which are driving climate resilience and fostering education for sustainability”.
“Proud to be part of a movement that’s creating a brighter, greener future for us all,” said Santosh. GIC activists Raghava and Igniting Minds founds M Karunakar Reddy too were present on the occasion. The 6th ICSE was held with the theme of Greening education for a sustainable future”. The two day event included many panel discussions, workshops and display of innovations by the young activists.
This is a way of involving youth and students particularly those research areas in sustainable ways of life and solutions to environmental challenges. Interestingly, Santosh’s GIC too has been drawing youth into planting saplings on every occasion in their life to spread the greenery. The former BRS MP presented certificates, awards to the participants at the ICSE conference.
