Telangana State Police has successfully recovered 30,049 mobile devices in 13 months, since the launch of CEIR portal on 19th April 2023 and is ranked 2nd in the country. Telangana additional DG Mahesh Bhagawat, IPS, oversaw this recovery operations of his team that include Dr Lavanya, IPS, cyber crimes SP and other officers.
CEIR Portal was developed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to curb the menace of mobile theft and counterfeit mobile devices CEIR portal was officially launched nationwide on May 17, 2023 and was started on pilot basis in Telangana State from April 19, 2023, said a press release on May 21, Tuesday.
In Telangana State Addl. DGP, CID is designated as Nodal Officer for CEIR portal who is also Super User. CEIR portal is operated in all 780 Police Stations of Police Units of Telangana State. The then ADG CID Mahesh Bhagwat IPS was first state level nodal officer who streamlined mobile recovery within the state and outside too. Currently ADGP, CID Smt. Shikha Goel, IPS, monitors the progress of work under CEIR portal as a result of which (30049) lost/stolen mobile devices were recovered, of which the last (1000) were recovered in (9) days and handed over to complaints. On an average (76) mobiles are recovered per day in the state.

In Telangana State the maximum recoveries have been made by Hyderabad Commissionerate with (4869) mobile devices, followed by Cyberabad Commissionerate with (3078) and Rachakonda Commissionerate with (3042) mobile devices followed by Warangal Commissionerate with (1919) Nizamabad with (1556)
Other states recovery of mobiles is like this: Karnataka 35945, Telangana 30049, Maharashtra 15426, Andhra Pradesh 7387.
To enhance user friendliness and serve the citizens of Telangana more efficiently Telangana Police in coordination with DoT has successfully integrated CEIR portal with TS Police Citizen Portal. The citizens are requested to utilize this service on the TS Police Citizen Portal for reporting lost/missing mobile devices.
Dr. Lavanya NJP, SP, Cyber Crime, CID, TG. Hyderabad, in coordination with DOT officials, including Hemant Rathwe, DDG Security, M. Arvind Kumar, Director Security, Lakshmana Kumar K, Assistant Director (Security Audit), and Ch. Suresh Babu, Inspector of IT Cell, CID is overseeing the implementation of the CEIR application in the state.
