A training programme was held on “Seed Sampling as per the ISTA Rules” at TISTA lab, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad on January 22.. The programme emphasized the importance of proper seeA one day training programme on Seed Sampling as per ISTA Rules was successfully held at the Telangana International Seed Testing Authority (TISTA) laboratory, Rajendranagar.
It was organized by Telangana Seed & Organic Certification Authority, aimed at enhancing the knowledge of seed sampling in accordance with international (ISTA) standards. The training was attended by 34 professionals from 18 seed organizations, both public and private, representing the entire seed industry.
Seed sampling in ensuring quality seed supply to farmers. The training featured five theoretical presentations covering seed quality assurance, sampling principles, sample division, and calibration of sampling equipment, presented by experts including Dr. Craig McGill from New Zealand and Florina from Switzerland.
The programme also included practical sessions in the post-lunch hours provided hands-on training in seed sampling using triers and manual methods. Participants gained valuable insights and practical experience, further enhancing their skills in seed sampling techniques. Pre- and post-evaluation tests conducted during the programme showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge.
This initiative underscores the Government of Telangana’s commitment to ensuring quality seed supply to farmers towards enhancing agriculture production and farmers income in the State.
