Amit Shah woos Jayant Chaudhary

UP politics fast taking shape into interesting electoral drama. Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is looking after the overall BJP campaign in the state has fired a first salvo saying that his party initially wanted to for an alliance with RLD (Rashtriya Lok Dal) led by MP Jayant Chaudhary. Now, Jayant is in alliance with SP and contesting as many as 33 MLA seats mainly in Western UP.

Jayant son of former union minister Ajith Singh and grandson of former prime minister Charan Singh is expected to play a bigger role in the post poll scenario ,in case there is a hung assembly, after counting of votes on March 10.By making it clear that BJP will always keep its doors open to RLD, Shah has indirectly hinted that there could be realignment of political forces after the results.

Already, there are some minor differences between RLD and SP over allocation of seats in Western UP where Jats, a community to which Jayant belongs to, are predominant in numbers. There are six to eight seats where SP is contesting on RLD symbol. Here, SP chief Akhilesh fielded some Muslims, another strong vote bank in this beld. Jayant is insisting on giving these seats to Jat candidates.
