IIT Hyderabad celebrates innovation day July 15

Innovation Day is a yearly celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), on July 15. It showcases startups supported by IITH ecosystem, and tech transfer-ready innovations by faculties and students. Last year, the event attracted over 1200 visitors. This year, Innovation Day will be bigger, featuring exhibitions, pitch sessions, panel discussions and talks, along with networking opportunities.

Innovation Day of IIT Hyderabad is to be an accessible event for deaf and hard-to-hear people with the use of cutting-edge technology. ● Scheduled on July 15, the event would include exhibitions, talks, panel discussions, pitch sessions and networking opportunities. ● Annual showcase of innovative solutions from startups and researchers at IIT Hyderabad, highlighting technological advancements, according to a press release.

With the second edition of Innovation Day, IITH is expanding the institution’s motto of “Inventing and  Innovating in Technology for Humanity” by ensuring that the event is accessible to deaf and hard-tohear individuals. The event facilitates participation and engagement for everyone with the support of an incubated startup SignAssistive AI, which has developed a technology that translates real-time conversations into digital avatar-based gestures and Indian sign languages.

 

National initiative 

Scheduled on the same day is MeitY Grand Challenge 2024 Finale, organised by the iTIC Incubator at IIT Hyderabad and SINE IIT Bombay. This national initiative aims at fostering innovation in key  areas such as Digital Twin & Simulation, Low & No Code, and Generative AI. The Finale event will feature pitching from the top 10 teams across the country to win attractive cash prizes of INR4 lakhs, grant support, access to iTIC’s prototyping lab, and comprehensive mentorship.

Speaking about the IITH Innovation Day, Prof B S Murty, Director IITH, shared, “While we continue to break new grounds in innovation, our dedication to accessibility means everyone can be part of our technology development, innovations & Entrepreneurship journey. It’s amazing to witness the impact firsthand and know that our leadership in this area is making a real difference.”

Innovation Day 2024 is scheduled on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the IITH campus and is free to attend by registering on itic.iith.ac.in/id24 . The event offers a great opportunity to connect and network with students, innovators, startups, corporates, and investors.
