Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, IAS, has called upon the civil servants to update their skills, knowledge and orientation in the fast changing world of today. He was addressing at the special foundation course (SFC) for All India services, including IAS officers, and Central Civil Services personnel at Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana in Hyderabad on September 21, Wednesday.
This SFC is being hosted on behalf of LBSNAA (Lal Bahadur Shastry National Academy of Administration) Mussoorie and the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India. Somesh administered the oath of office to the offices. He also released the Course Manual on this occasion. The CS asked the officers to inculcate a sense of devotion to people they serve.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said that the officers, rather than physical and financial resources, have great potential to bring about changes in the nature and quality of governance. “Even a small initiative on their part can result in huge beneficial outcomes”, he stated. He called upon the Officer Trainees to inculcate the habit of reading books in order to enhance their competitive edge, instead of spending their precious time on social media.
Innovative Schemes
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said that the innovative schemes, conceptualized and executed by Telangana State, can be a great source of inspiration for the Officer Trainees who are attending the Foundation Course, from across the country. He stated, with a sense of pride, that Telangana State has planted a staggering 250 crore saplings during the last 7 years and thereby increased the green cover by 7 per cent.
Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka MCR HRD Institute Director General who spoke on this occasion, stated that the learning has become a continuous process on account of the changes that are taking place in the internal and external environment. “Since the Officer Trainees possess work experience, they have great potential to understand different problems in their true and total frame of reference and to find enduring solutions for them”, he observed.
Dr K Tirupataiah, IFS, Course Director (in-charge)presented a report on the Special Foundation Course.Dr.Ravulapati Madhavi, Additional Course Director, Extra- and Co-curricular Activities conducted the proceedings of the inaugural function.
