Telangana Congress leaders want Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s presence in the state in the days come to improve its poll prospects. A view to this extent is voiced at the extended meeting of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan, party office, in Hyderabad on May 22, Monday. TPCC president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy at the meting.
“Hereafter, Priyanka Gandhi will tour Telangana, at least for every 10 days. She will address meeting in all districts in the coming months,” he said. AICC in charge general secretary Manikrao Thakre was present at the meeting, which is attended by all the senior leaders. A majority of those who were present at the meeting sought her to campaign for the party in the assembly elections.
Telangana Congress leaders are happy that her recent meeting in May in Hyderabad, where a Youth Declaration was released was a grand success. The party leaders feel that the youth and women are attracted to Priyanka for her charming style and direct connect with the public. “She speaks simple sentences and simple language which all can understand,” said a senior Congress leader from Hyderabad city.
Karnataka impact
Congress leaders attribute Priyanka’s campaign as one of the main reasons for the party winning recent Karnataka assembly elections. Her free style mingling with people and cheering and waving at crowds are huge crowd pullers, the party leaders feel. Though they won’t say it, the party leaders prefer Priyanka to Rahul, who sports an intellectual type of persona and delivers serious speeches.
Telangana Congress is in an upbeat mood after the Karnataka assembly elections. The resounding victory of the party has enthused Telangana leaders who were depressed after a series of electoral defeats in the State for the last few years. AICC has called for a meeting of all poll bound states leaders for a meeting in Delhi on May 26. Reventh Reddy will request for a vigorous campaign by Priyanka Gandhi in Telangana in next 5-6 months.
