Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) on September 30, Friday offered 1 kilo and 16 tolas of gold to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy at Yadadri temple. This gold offering is part of a drive to see that the Vimana Gopuram of the renovated temple atop Yadadri hillock, close to 50 km from Hyderabad, is fully gold plated. KCR is accompanied by his wife Shoba and grandson, Himanshu.
On behalf of KCR’s family, Himanshu presented a cheque of Rs 52.48 lakh (the price of gold on the day) to Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and temple trust board executive officer Geetha. KCR’s visit to Yadadri assumes imporantce as it happened 4 days before Dasara when he is likely to announce his foray into national politics, by announcing a national political party – Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi.
But, KCR hasn’t made any political statement or hinted at the new party during the day’s visit to the temple town. KCR left his Pragathi Bhavan residence in Hyderabad by road at 10.30 am and reached the temple by 12 noon. The CM held an official review of the restoration and expansion works of Yadadri temple, which he launched six years ago. He took many key decisions in the meeting.
A major decision is handing over of 2,157 acres of land, acquired from different sources, to YTDA (Yadadri Temple Development Authority). Another move is to release Rs 43 crore funds from the exchequer to the temple works. All the priests and other employees of the temple will be provided residences within the YTDA while others like local media persons will be given accommodation outside. As many 250 cottages will be built on 250 acres.
A 100 acre forest named “Nrisimha Abhayaranyam” will be developed in the YTDA limits. A Kalyana Mandapam (marriage hall) will be built on an area of 50 acres. KCR told the minister and officials to see that the renovated Yadadri temple is second to none in the country and that all kinds of facilities – transport, water food, accommodation – are provided to devotees.
Some other leaders who were with KCR too presented their gold offerings to the temple. They include – TRS MLA from Armoor A Jeevan Reddy who gave 1 kg gold worth cash – Rs 50.15 lakh, TRS senior leader Vemreddy Narsimha Reddy donated Rs 51 lakh, for 1 kg gold, and another party leader Enugu Dayananda Reddy offered Rs 50.04 lakh towards a kg gold on the occasion.
