BRS Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar’s #WeeklyDoseofPhotograph is slowly getting popular. His posts pictures of wildlife and nature, o these days mostly birds Sunday mornings. This Sunday, July 9, he tweeted four photos of a cute Kingfisher bird sitting on a dried tree branch. Within a couple of hours, his posts got 3,439 views, 181 likes and 41 retweets.

Many of his regular commentators felt happy to see them, as part of Santosh’ s efforts to promote environment and greenery in India. Being a founder of #GreenIndiaChallenge, a five year old campaign, the young MP leaves no chance to bring  ecological awareness among public. This kind of sustained efforts for the cause of greenery among parliamentarians only in the Western countries.

Responses to his photos this week is varied. Some appreciate his camera work, while others laud his commitment to promote green cause. Some suggested his should also take up anti-plastic campaign so that our environment pollution can be contained. I think, this is a  good idea. GIC should also take up a campaign among the youth to create awareness about plastic’s deleterious effects.

Kingfisher

Kingfisher is one of rare bird species spread across the world, from Europe to Asia and Africa. Bird watchers say, there are around 120 known types in this family. Their strong head, long nose and colourful plumage make them standout among other birds. They are admired for their fish catching skills.
