Union Coal Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary at Mahatma’s statue on MG Road, Secunderabad on October 2, .Kishan Reddy who returned from Kashmir assembly elections joined by several party senior leaders garlanded Mahatma’s statue and offered prayers too on the occasion.

Kishan Reddy participated in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan after the prayers by sweeping streets of  Paradise and Kalasiguda areas. Many BJP workers followed Kishan Reddy in this cleaning activity. Speaking at a meeting, the union minister reminded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched Swachha Bharat Abhiyan a decade ago, when BJP came to power to mark the occasion of Gandhi Ji Jayanti.

“Swachhata is important to our country as we intend to become a developed country by 2047. PM Modi had taken up several other programmes too to lift the poor out of the unhygienic and unclean atmosphere in their habitats. Toilets for all and LPG gas connections to the poor are some of the measures the Modi sarkar has launched coinciding the Gandhi Ji Jayanti,” said Kishan Reddy.

Even Mahatma Gandhi himself once said that if he were to chose between freedom and Swachhata, he would first opt for Swachhata as anyway freedom will come to India. Kishan Reddy reminded people that PM Modi has been following the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi by making  India self-reliant and developed on all fronts. These objectives would be possible only with the help of all people, said Reddy.
