The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) meeting has concluded. The meeting was held at the Jalsaudha in Hyderabad under the chairmanship of Board Chairman Atul Jain. Telangana Irrigation Department Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja, Telangana ENC Anil Kumar, AP ENC Venkateswara Rao, engineers and senior officials of both the states participated in the meeting. The water sharing between AP and Telangana and the management of the board were discussed in the meeting. The objections of both the states on the establishment of telemetric stations came up for discussion in the meeting.
Telangana should be given 71 percent share: Rahul Bojja
After the meeting, Telangana Irrigation Department Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja spoke. “We have protested against the 66:34 ratio in Krishna waters. The Krishna catchment area in the state is 71 percent. Telangana should be given 71 percent share in Krishna waters. Till 71 percent is finalized, Cheri should be given half the share. The chairman of the board said that the current ratio of 66:34 will continue. The chairman said that efforts will be made to increase the share depending on the situation. The issue of water diversion was mentioned in the meeting. We have requested that telemetry be installed in 11 areas. The AP ENC said that it will respond within a week on the installation of telemetry,” said Rahul Bojja.
Telangana ENC Anil Kumar said that he had requested the withdrawal of CRPF forces from Sagar. He mentioned the issue of repairs to the Srisailam project. He said that the chairman of the board had said that repairs would be made to the dam sluice.
We told the board that we will not accept the 50:50 ratio: AP ENC Venkateswara Rao
AP ENC Venkateswara Rao said, “We told the board that we will not accept the 50:50 ratio asked by Telangana. We have requested that the ratio of 66:34 be continued. The board chairman said that we will continue with the same ratio and take a decision according to the needs of the states. We have requested that the Krishna Board office be shifted to AP. We will discuss with the state government if the proposed details regarding the establishment of telemetry are given. The state government has decided to conduct model studies with a central government agency regarding the Srisailam project. We will carry out urgent repairs required for the next season until the results of the model studies are available,” Venkateswara Rao said.
