D Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, launched GraamPay at Viyona Fintech’s headquarters, in Hyderabad on March 19, Wednesday. This new service aims to improve digital financial access for people in rural areas.

GraamPay will help connect people in villages with secure digital payment options and support local businesses. With over 65% of India’s population living in rural regions, many face challenges in accessing financial services. GraamPay seeks to address this by providing fast, easy, and secure transactions that meet banking standards. The platform allows rural entrepreneurs, small traders, and farmers to join digital commerce, reduce cash use, and boost their financial security, said a press relesae.

IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu highlighted how technology can improve everyone’s financial access during the launch. He described GraamPay as an important project supporting India’s digital and financial inclusion goals. “GraamPay is a revolutionary initiative that ensures financial access is a right for all, not just a privilege,” he stated.

Focus on rural entrepreneurs

GraamPay focuses on the Village-Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) model. In this model, trained individuals help their communities by promoting digital payments. These local entrepreneurs will onboard rural sellers, teach people about digital payments and help them make secure transactions. The initiative aims to support small businesses, farmers, and artisans by connecting them to bigger markets and creating more opportunities for them. The system also ensures financial security and makes digital transactions easier using QR codes, UPI payments, and mobile-based financial solutions.

Ravindranath Yarlagadda, Chairman of Viyona Fintech, emphasized the company’s goal of improving financial access for urban and rural India. “At Viyona Fintech, we aim to close the financial gap with new solutions. GraamPay is not just a payment platform; it’s a step towards true financial inclusion, making sure everyone, no matter where they live, can use secure and efficient digital transactions,” he said.

Regulations compliance

GraamPay will play a key role in helping India become a cashless economy by combining digital shopping with safe financial services. The platform offers features like easy e-commerce integration, quick payments, and compliance with banking regulations, ensuring it can grow effectively in rural areas. By partnering with banks and financial institutions, GraamPay creates a dependable and tech-driven financial system that meets the needs of rural communities.

With more people using digital services, tools like GraamPay will change rural business and financial transactions. The platform will transform how millions interact with financial services by breaking economic barriers, enabling secure payments, and promoting digital skills. The launch of GraamPay marks an important move towards making India’s rural economy stronger, more inclusive, and digitally advanced. The live platform invites rural entrepreneurs, merchants, and customers to join the digital revolution and build a financially secure future.
