TRS Rajya Sabha MP and Green India Challenge (GIC) founder head J Santosh Kumar on June 16, Thursday joined the Save Soil campaign of spiritual leader and Isha Foundation chief Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Sadhguru was in Hyderabad. Santosh pledged his support to the campaign of Sadhguru. On this occasion, Sadhguru launched GIC’s 5.0.
Sadhguru, Santosh,several ministers, MP, MLAs and MLCs and officials planted saplings at Golluru forest near the city.

Sadhguru said that “Telangana ku Harita Haram’ (a government of Telangana programme) and Green India Challenge stood as role models in the country and asserted all other states should accept the challenge. Sadhguru said that he was on world tour and he is overwhelmed by seeing lush Green cover while entering the Telangana State. He warned the indiscriminate use of chemicals will destroy the Earth life and it will be a big threat to the future generations.
There is no alternative to Earth and Soil. He strongly hoped the conservation of earth and sol and gift them to the future generations. As part of Save Soil movement, Sadhguru started his journey to Bengaluru from Hyderabad on June 16. On his way, the spiritual guru planted saplings at Golluru forest areas at Shamshabad and interacted with Santosh, some ministers, MP and MLAs and GIC members, among others.
Besides Santohsh, Forest and environment minister A Indrakaran Reddy, education minister Sabitha, , Tribal welfare minister Satyawati Rathod, MP Ranjit Reddy, MLA Prakash Goud , MLCs-Naveen Kumar, Shambhipur Raju and D Vittal were present and planted saplings. Indrakaran Reddy presented a report on Telangnaa ku Haritha Haram and explained the government’s endeavour to increase Green cover in the state.
Sadhguru compliments Santosh
Sadhguru particularly lauded the efforts of MP Santosh who got inspired by CM KCR’s commitment to increasing green cover in Telangana right from 2014, when the state was formed. “I am happy, Santosh has taken up a big responsibility at an early age. He is inspiring many others, including celebrities and ordinary people,” said the spiritual leader. The goals of GIC are praiseworthy, said Sadhugur.
Santosh speaking on the occasion said,that his GIC was inspired by Telangana ku Haritha Haram, a green cover promotion programme, the brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. “I started this Green India Challenge four years ago, to spread the awareness on greenery across the country,” said Santosh. The MP wished that Sadhguru would launch many more initiatives like Save the Soil in future too.
Green India challenge with the support of Telangana State Forest department has taken up the task of improving green cover by grooming biog plants in Golluru where the forest covered depleted. In the first phase, fencing of 900 acres of forest area was already completed. To revive the forest cover, 10, 000 big saplings have been planted at one go under Green India Challenge 5.0.
CMO Special Secretary Bhupal Reddy, Special Chief Secretary to Forest Shanti Kumari, OSD Priyanka Verghese, PCCF head of forest force RM Dobrial, Additional PCCF Sunitha Bhagawat, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stefen Ravindra, Rangareddy DFO Janaki Ram, Green India Challenge representatives Raghava, Karunakar Reddy and others were also present.
