Suddenly, Donald Trump is leading slightly over Kamala Harris by 2 per cent point in some leading opinion polls, a fortnight before the US presidential elections on November 5. Ever since president Joe Biden stepped aside in the election in August, Kamala Harris has been leading in most opinion polls. She is also much ahead of Trump in election funds raising too. But, this week, Trump surged past her.
Less than two weeks before Election Day, the presidential race remains neck-and-neck, with both major party candidates’ narrow leads often within the polls’ margins of error. Trump has pulled ahead of Harris in four recent major national polls for the first time since early August.
A recent Wall Street Journal (WSJ) poll of 1,500 registered voters found that the former president leads the Democratic nominee by 2 percentage points, 47 percent to 45 percent. Trump’s lead falls within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
Poll held between Oct 19 and 22
The poll, conducted between October 19 and 22, found that 3 percent of respondents are undecided, and 2 percent still support Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the independent candidate who dropped out of the race in August.
Donald Trump is at 51% and Kamala Harris stands at 49%. According to The Hill, this latest poll result marks a significant shift from the poll survey which happened back in September where Kamala Harris was leading by 4 points previously.
HarrisX and Forbes Poll mark a significant number of undecided voters while it was noted that there are 12% of likely voters and 18% of registered voters who are still confused regarding their options. The Hill reported that both the Presidential candidates are intensifying their campaigning efforts to sway these undecided voters and the US Presidential race of this year is expected to be one of the closest in history.
Dritan Nesho, the founder of HarrisX emphasized on the competitive nature of the US Presidential election and claimed that the voter turnout will be extremely crucial. The Hill noted that, in early voter turnout, Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is closing the gap in polling which is raising severe concern among the Democrats regarding maintain the momentum.
According to The Hill and Decision HQ aggregate, US Vice President Kamala Harris is having a slight lead by 0.9 point .. If the trend persists till another 10 days, Kamala Harris would find it difficult to defeat Trump in the white male dominated America.
