A strong section of BJP in Nalgonda parliamentary constituency is opposing possible fielding of former BRS MLA Sanampudi Saidi Reddy as BJP candidate from Nalgonda seat. Though there is no official announcement on Saidi Reddy candidatures till now, there are reports that he is favoured for the Lok Sabha seat. BJP central leadership is expected to release the second list in a day or two.
Saidi Reddy joined BJP two days ago. The local BJP cadre from Suryapet district say that Reddy had played a role in arrest of dozens of party cadre and leader who opposed his land grabbing deals in Huzurnagar constituency from where he was the BRS MLA till 2023. Reddy not only opposed the Raithu Bharosa Yatra of then BJP president Bandi Sanjay but also was behind arrest of BJP Surypet district president Bobba Bhagya Reddy and others.
They were arrested police cases were filed against them when BJP leaders fought against illegal encroachment of tribal lands by Saidi Reddy’s followers. Even Challa Srilatha Reddy who contested as BJP MLA from Huzurnagar last November too is not happy over the candidature of Saidi Reddy. The BJP leaders from Nalgonda appealed to the party leadership not to Saidi Reddy.
Instead, they say, there are other candidates like Sudhakar Gande and Ravi Yadav who put up a good fight on behalf of BJP from Nalgonda and even have chances of winning the seat. The party workers are of the view that only those who can get along with them and people should be considered for the ticket, but not those who were with BRS till recently and earned bad name.
