Rama Krishna Sangem
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on March 3, Friday, rolled out a red carpet to industrialists and snatched deals worth of Rs 13 lakh crore into 20 sunrise areas. His government signed MoUs with 340 companies which can provide employment to around six lakh people in the next few years. This is on the first day of 2 day Global Investors’ Summit-2023 held at Visakhapatnam.
Presence of top business leaders like Mukhesh Ambani and Kumara Mangalam Birla among 30 corporate giants lent authenticity to the summit for which background efforts were made for the last few months. Jagan himself toured many cities and invited industrialists to come to the summit and invest. In his brief introductory speech, CM Jagan outlined four advantages of AP – Decarbonization, Digitization, Infrastructure and Entreprenuership.
Tag-lined as Advantage Andhra Pradesh, this summit showcased vast 974 km long coastline, top class industrial corridors and scores of skilled development centres where youth are trained to meet the changing needs of industry. Jagan told the gathering which included many foreign diplomats, envoys and MNCs CEOs, that: “We are just a phone call away for all your needs and ready to support”.
Visakhapatnam executive capital
Jagan on the occasion declared that Visakhapatnam will be the executive capital of AP and he will start functioning from this port city very soon. This brought curtains on speculation over whether he would make Vizag as the executive capital before 2024 assembly elections. Now that this announcement is made, sources said he would start his office from this city from Ugadi, Telugu new year, on March 22.
This Global Investors’ Summit is aimed at warding off the criticism that Jagan government is only interested in welfare schemes for the poor and hasn’t done much for the industrialization of the State. Some more MoUs are expected to be signed on Saturday, second day of the summit. As the Centre has already decided to host G-20 crucial working groups meeting in Vizag later this year, AP will be in limelight this year.
Around 14,000 delegates turned up this summit where 15 focus sessions and an exhibition with 130 stalls are arranged. AP getting No 1 rank for the Ease of Doing Business for the last 3 years, its double digit growth of 11.4 per cent, many awards for business excellence and abundant resources like 48,000 acres of land bank, 6 airports, 10 sea ports are some of the advantages projected at the summit
