Very soon every fifth (or 5.5th to be precise) iPhone 15, which will be made in India. Apple will launch iPhone 15 at its headquarters at Cupertino, California, in the US on September 12, Tuesday. This is the plan of Apple’s contract manufacturers Foxconn, which has a factory at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Foxconn will be setting up its units at two other places in India, including one in Hyderabad by 2025.
In a bid to push the volume of new iPhones coming from India, Apple Inc.’s next-generation iPhone 15 is all set to be produced in Tamil Nadu, a report claimed on August 16, Wednesday. Presently, Apple is producing around 7 per cent of its iPhone sets in India. In next two years, this will go up to 18 per cent ,according to trade sources. Finally, Apple wants to take it up to 25 per cent.

Apple also is an applicant for PLI (Productivity linked Incentives) announced by the Centre for promoting domestic manufacturing in the country. iPhones along with other gadgets of Apple would be made in India on a large scale in the next two to three years.
