18 years old Jayalakshmi, the Prime Minister of the Montfort Social Institute initiated Hyderabad City Youth Parliament and the former PM of Children’s Parliament was one of the 19 eminent women from different disciplines honoured at the Telangana State Women’s Day celebrations on March 13.
Seethakka, Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare along with V. Karuna IAS, Principal Secretary and others did the honours Jayalakshmi works with her family to collect garbage from 500 households every day before attending her college. She has brought substantial changes in her community as PM.
She is proud of her work and is a brand ambassador of the 70,000 people who keep Hyderabad and its households clean. Jaya was a recipient of the Gandhi -King Scholarship (2023), Change Maker Award (2022) and finalist in the ‘British High Commissioner for a Day’ (2022) competitions. Jaya, an aspiring civil servant hopes to bring equal dignity to every profession.
Along with Jayalakshmi, 18 other prominent women too were felicitated by the minister on the occasion.

MSI director Brother Varghese expressed his happiness over Jayalakshmi being felicitated by Minister Seethakka, in recognition of her services. “Jaya is one of 1,200 children work with our MSI for the last four years. She is an inspiration to many other girls of her age. She has a promising future. Now studying degree second year in St Francis, Secunderabad, Jayalakshmi wants to prepare for civil services, and we wish her the best,” said Br Varghese talking to Excel India.
